Applications
PLC-controlled machines for flat surface sanding, satin finishing and finishing of metal and wood panels.
A satin (brushed) finish is a uniform, unidirectional fine-line appearance on metal; it is the most common texture on stainless steel. It is usually produced with P180–P320 grit abrasive belts.
On multi-station machines the first station removes coarse burrs and scratches, and the following stations complete the satin finish in a single pass. Inverter speed control is needed to prevent stainless steel from burning and to achieve different textures such as satin and hairline.
A satin finish is usually produced with P180–P320 belts, and the finer hairline finish with P400 and finer.
Hairline lines are much finer and longer than satin; this finish is preferred for lift doors, architectural cladding and commercial kitchen worktops.
With more units, coarse and fine processing is done in a single pass. The DYZ 300 series has 1, 2 or 3 units; the RR series has two drums; the 1600 R.R.R.S. has three drums and a Scotch-Brite unit.
