Applications
Achieve the required roughness on metal surfaces with abrasive belts, cotton brushes and Scotch-Brite units.
Finishing and polishing make a metal surface smoother using abrasives. Polishing can be done wet (with polishing paste) or dry; the wet method is generally preferred for the best result.
Each finishing unit gives a different surface roughness: abrasive belt, cotton brush, Scotch-Brite belt or Scotch-Brite drum. The choice depends on the metal and the required surface. Common stainless steel finishes such as 2B, bright 2BA and No.5 are achieved with brushes or Scotch-Brite.
Where a non-directional surface is required, rotary brush units are recommended. By adding a Scotch-Brite belt or drum to deburring machines, deburred parts can also be given a final finish.
Both methods are used; the wet method (with polishing paste) is generally preferred for the best finishing and polishing result.
