Edge rounding

Applications

Edge rounding

Round sharp edges and burrs around holes on sheet metal parts consistently.

Why is edge rounding necessary?

Edge rounding removes the sharp edges and burrs remaining on machined metal parts and around holes. Abrasive belts and brush/disc units break the edges of deburred parts evenly; an edge radius of up to 2 mm can be achieved.

Edges must be rounded for paint to adhere at the corners; sharp edges are not accepted in sectors such as automotive. Edge rounding can be combined with deburring and finishing in the same machine, removing burrs and improving surface quality at the same time.

Frequently asked questions

Famak edge rounding machines can achieve an edge radius of up to 2 mm.

On a sharp edge the paint film thins and peels early. A rounded edge lets the paint adhere at the corners as well.

Yes. Machines such as the 1350 R.D.D.W. and DYZ 300 R.D. combine sanding and edge rounding units to do both in a single pass.
