Heavy burr and slag removal

Applications

Heavy burr and slag removal

Remove heavy burrs and slag from steel plates after oxy-fuel and plasma cutting in a single pass.

What is slag and how is it removed?

Slag is molten material left on the part during oxy-fuel (flame) or plasma cutting. These machines also remove metal residues remaining on the part.

Heavy burr and slag removal machines sand steel plates aggressively with high-power motors, a hard-hitting head or hard rubber contact drum, and abrasive belts. When edge rounding is added, heavy slag removal and edge rounding are done in a single pass, improving product quality and saving time.

Frequently asked questions

A burr is a thin ridge left on the cut edge; slag is molten material that sticks to the part in oxy-fuel or plasma cutting and requires more aggressive sanding.

Machines such as the RR series and 1350 R.D.D.W. handle material thickness up to 120 mm; the configuration depends on the part and the amount of slag.
